Well isn’t that clever?
Fellow camper Keif Hunniford figured out a simple way to add a children’s bed in his Volkswagen Vanagon. He made it from $10 worth of canvas and some PVC pipe, and was able to design it so that it was completely out of the way when not in use. He reports that the project received two thumbs up from his daughter Ash. Well done Keif!
“The sewing was the hardest part. This is $10 worth of canvas from walmart.”
“Note the routing of the strap. The cross member nearest us running from left to right can be removed for storage.. it’s just friction fitted. With the strap running across the bottom then IN through the slot in the corner piece, the more weight there is on the hammock, the more pressure there is holding the joint together. There is about 13 inches of strap on each hanger. The ends go through a slice that I made in 3/4 inch PVC pipe with a knot inside the pipe.”
“Heaven. It’s out of the way. It’s truly invisible here in every day use. It’s not going anywhere and it is utterly out of the way.”
