The Ultimate Katy Trail Map
If you search “top bike trails” you’ll find that the Katy Trail makes the list every time.
And for good reason – the 240 mile bike path winds through some of most beautiful Missouri country side you’ll ever see. It was the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, and runs along the Missouri River for the better part of the trail. The trail is made from crushed limestone and makes for a comfortable ride, even on the hottest Missouri day. I recently had the opportunity to bike the Katy Trail on behalf of 50 Campfires, and I can honestly say that I’ve never felt more comfortable anywhere else in the country.
The trail runs through so many charming small towns that I lost count. Everyone is glad to see you, and everyone is happy to help you out and answer any questions you have. Whether you’re biking 24 miles or 240 miles, you are instantly welcomed by the “Katy Trail Community,” which is full of bikers from all around the world. I met more interesting people in six days than I usually meet in a year. I sincerely hope to make it back with my wife, as I know she would also fall in love with the Katy Trail.
I am addicted to Google Maps, and noticed that there wasn’t a Katy Trail Map that includes all of the points of interest in one convenient place. When I got home I decided that a photo essay and a solid map would be the best way I could help to promote the Katy Trail. Feel free to enter your favorite stops along the way. I’ll be able two approve them within two business days, and I honestly hope you get a chance to visit Missouri and hop on a bike.
