Victorinox Swiss Army 8-inch Fibrox Pro Chef’s Knife: Review
One of the most important tools in your camp box is your knife, and if you like to cook as much as I do you need to have a solid, reliable chef’s knife. For many years now I’ve been using the Victorinox Swiss Army Fibrox Pro 8-Inch Chef’s Knife both in the kitchen and at the campsite. Let me tell you why.
The first thing people remark when they use the Fibrox Pro at my house is how crazy sharp it is. It is hair popping razor sharp right out of the box, and it somehow stays that way for a surprisingly long time. I have two in my kitchen, and I didn’t need to sharpen them for about two years.
Another reason I keep recommending them to friends is the handle. If you’re a fan of knives like me, you know that the right feel in your hand is crucial. The handle on the Fibrox Pro has the perfect grip. It’s firm enough to allow precision cutting and grippy enough to be safe when it’s wet.
The shape of the knife itself is also well designed. The slope of the blade makes for a perfect rocking motion when you need to do some mincing, and the flat backside is perfect for bearing down on harder vegetables and fruits.
The fact that Victorinox Swiss Army makes an excellent case for $5 means that you can toss it in the camp box without any worries. And last but not least, the price is hard to beat. You’re simply not going to find a better chef’s knife for $46 than the Victorinox Swiss Army Fibrox Pro 8-Inch Chef’s Knife. If you want to get serious about food prep at the campsite, this is the knife for you.
